Dr. Susan Barnes is a conductor, educator, and community arts leader dedicated to creating meaningful musical experiences that inspire artistic growth, collaboration, and lifelong learning. She currently conducts the San Bernardino Symphony Overture Orchestra, the choirs and orchestras at W.A. Carter High School, and the Ontario First Church of the Nazarene Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra. Through her work with students, community musicians, and professional colleagues, she strives to build ensembles that value excellence, creativity, and connection. She is regularly invited to serve as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and coach for honor ensembles, festivals, and educational programs throughout Southern California.
San Bernardino Symphony Overture Orchestra
The Overture Orchestra is the newest youth orchestra sponsored by the San Bernardino Symphony and Musical Director, Anthony Parnthar. The Overture Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Susan Barnes, is a selective group of enthusiastic sixth through ninth grade musicians who desire to perform with a full symphony orchestra.

Susan Barnes took over as Musical Director of The Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra at the First Church of the Nazarene in Ontario, California, in 2016. She prepares and performs weekly choral anthems and special music. She is the Associate Director for Worship Music, collaboratively programming music and weekly service schedules for Sunday morning worship.
